English and me

Three years ago, when I was still a little girl in the Grade One class of  junior middle school, I did not know anything about English—the most important and widely used language in the world. Some times when I met  froeigners and they ask me some things, what I could say was:“Sorry, I don’t know” or “sorry, could you speak in Chinese? ”. How a laughable girl I was!

 One day, from the TV set, I got a big news that Beijing is successfully pass the serious examination and would hold the Olympic Games in 2008. After a crazy exciting celebration, suddenly, I had a idea—Try my best to be the one of volunteers in Beijing in 2008 to welcome and help people who comes from all over the world. I thought that must be very interesting and meaningfulness!

After made sure my decision, I began to study hard to make my hope come ture. You know, to be a volunteer on the Olympic Games is not a easy thing for me. My father telled me that there is no short cut in studing English. So I thought I should study two times or more harder then before. From then on, I wrote more than ten English words on my hand’s back every morning to remember them, I tried to call any thing’s name in English everywhere, when I had time, I often read the English books, listen to the radio English program, remembered the new words and tried to write some composition, diary and so on. Also, at the same time, I did not say “Sorry”or “I can not express myself very well in English” any more. Instead of that, I tried to speak with my good fridends in English and train myself to use some short dialogues to express my idea. After one year hard studied, English seems not so difficult unfamiliar to me. Everything goes quite well, I was so glad! At last, father felt satisfaction with what I did, too. Finally, he agreed to taught me oral English. Oh, great! Where there is a will, there is a way this sentence to express my mood is so suitable! I knew it was a good chance for me because in despite of dad is quite well in speaking English, but he said that he is always busy.  In really he did not like to teach the others.

My father and me began to speak English in our spare time, I must say anything in English during that time, otherwise I will be punished. We watched English TV together and discuss together. There was happened a joke when we watched a program, The showman of this program asked that: couch+potato=? For a long time, both of us could not got the right answer . Do you know? Can you guess? OK, the answer of that is a person who liked to lie down on the couch to watch TV most of time be called couch potato. Hearing this answer, what do you think? At that time, I could not help laughing loudly, do you know why? Because dad was just the same as the man which the program say!

How time flies! three years has passed. During the time, with my hard-working, now I can speak English fluently and talk with others smoothly. Long way had be cut off for a piece, the distance from my dream and me get closer. I belive that three years more, I will be a successful student as a volunteer to stand before you.

For my sweet dream, I had pay a lot of my effort, so I belive myself, belive that my dream will come ture in the future. At that time, I will say “Welcome to China” with a big smile and intense self-assurance.
